Morning ladies
It's cold and blustery outside which means another day of the Furry One going to one door, then the other, to check if the weather is any different at each door so he can go out to pee.Love that your GD found her quilt and voted for it. I bet that made your day, mica. I don't get quilts being hung permanently. In my mind they are made to be used.
It always seems extra sad when someone young dies. Unfair really.
I would never have thought to use paper towels to paint on. Thinking about it, they are designed to absorb water, so why not. And I have no doubt they would be thick enough to take a needle. I've seen embroideries on the sheerest of fabric and paper towels are thicker. You would need to be careful about tearing and tension, but it sounds workable to me. I've also seen embroideries on artist's canvas'. You would need to be either extremely accurate as you make the holes first or be happy with something completely random.
Since my lightbox died, I've been thinking of alternative ways to transfer designs to fabric. The sticky transfer sheets blunt my needles with gobs of glue on the points and I'm over taping everything to windows as this is not accurate enough. I've decided to go 'old school' with the 'prick and pounce' method. So now to investigate how to make my own pounce. This should be messy and fun
It's going to be cruisey day as we won't be outside much. Might work a bit more on this cross stitch. There are 12 A4 pages to work through so a bit to do
The ironing I started on Friday before becoming distracted with other stuff is still sitting there to finish. It may get done, then again, it may not.The Furry One is up and is checking both doors lol.

Hope to get quilting on xmas panel finished today then I will stitch the binding tonight.
Looking out some vegan recipes for morning tea. Two former work colleagues are visiting next weekend one is vegan.
Found a lemon drizzle cake recipe in my first Google search. Its so nice that they want to keep in touch.

Morning everyone
The sun is out but still really blustery.
Paper towels are magic in my eyes. I cant remember how it happened but I had used some for water and not binned them. They dried and held the shape they were in. So would be great for making ornaments. Sort of cheats paper mâché. and they will dry and be able to be used again too.. something distracted me, maybe a call to the home or something. Sort of a paper clay is how I would describe it.
I must have slept in the same position cos Im creaky today... but I have no plans.. other than games and painting, the latter which I didn't do yesterday.
Have any of you ladies knitted or crochet with that chenille Yarn? Gayle makes blankets from it. Its beautifully soft and snuggly. but I do wonder if it gets hot in your hands to work with.

These are not the nice smooth ones, but rather the rough yellowy commercial ones you get in institutions. They are really horrible to use on skin, but do make an excellent support. The paints and inks add to their tough nature, so I just might try a bit of stitchery, just for the fun of it, bearing your words in mind km. I have stitched on silk paper, but that has all that silk strength, so this would be a new experiment.
As for pounce, we made our own with coloured chalks when we needed it - for your purposes tailors chalk would work. Rub it over coarse sandpaper to produce a powder and transfer that to a little container to use over the prepped drawing. I have done that when I wanted a repeated detail and a stencil or a stamp wouldn't work. Which reminds me, those are great fun too, especially making our own stamps.

No, I haven't knitted that chenille yarn, popeye. I have always preferred wool as acrylic yarn gave my fingers a rash.
I was thinking of using my tailors chalk for the pounce as I have odd ends that are a PITA to use, and this would be a good way of using them up. I was going to use the side of the cheese grater that grates finely but I like your idea of sandpaper better, OHH. I'm sure MrK can donate a piece of sandpaper to the cause

I remember seeing an article about sewing on Dried leaves, years ago. That would take skill and careful hands.
I get a rash when I crochet, but not when I knit lol..
Was sitting in the bathroom again and I realised not only is there a little hole down the bottom of the vanity but it is the full height of it.. Probably explains why the towels blows in the wind.
So Ill be getting my stash of bubble wrap and bunging that in there too.

Out this morning for eldest great grandsons second birthday gathering. It was at his play centre place; if your child goes there then you can hire it free, which worked really well with lots of stuff for all the kids to play with.
Eldest granddaughter picked me up with her partner & their two boys who are now both at school but they still had fun, especially with the musical stuff - xylophone & drums etc.
I find gatherings of lots of people exhausting, & oddly enough so does eldest grandson; works very well - I'm his excuse to leave early, he takes me home.
He said that being around too many people 'runs down your batteries' which i think is an excellent way to put it.
I had intended to go outside & do more digging but far too knackered so having the rest of the day off - sort of,still have to cook & feed animals. Who apparently are not best pleased that the human was out for the morning...

I have knitted with chenille. And the finished fabric is lovely to stroke, very soft, but could read as slightly slippery. It is difficult to undo and reknit because the pile gets creased in the process and rarely returns to original condition. There was a brand a few ( thirty???) years back that came in the most glorious colours, I used it for something back then and loved it so much I kept the leftover half ball for years...
Makes a good scarf, or knee rug...

Hello ladies
Down in Taupo for 2 nights as our 35th wedding anniversary tomorrow, don't know where those years have gone. We honeymooned here in Taupo so always nice to come back.
Had a count up of my knitting and have completed 27 mice and 28 balls for the SPCA. Will drop into the branch here before we head home on Tuesday. Hasn't made much of a dent in my stash so might do some C2C blankets for the cat cages. Will see if the branch can use those when I call in.

I think I have some that I didn't get around to using but goodness knows which bin or bag it is in.
Might see if Gayle has a part ball I can have a tutu with to see if I like it.
AC Baths was good in Taupo too. We used to go down from Mango.
Just had a beautiful piece of rib eye steak with chips for tea.. OMG yummy . And No I didn't have to buy it lol.
Have done all the black around the rose, now its like colouring in between the lines
Was talking to Dianne for a while. Her hair is coming out in handfuls now. We were reckoning that times had certainly changed and advanced since my sister went through cancer when it comes to the nausea side of things. Di has meds for it but hasn't had to taken them yet. And she is eating normally. Like she made a butter chicken curry last night and no side effects.
They just need to figure out why people lose their hair and a way of preventing it. I never saw my sister without hair, she wore scarves etc.. So I'm going to have to be brave. I know Di is not looking forward to it. She has ordered heaps of different scarf hats etc. But Ive never seen her with a hat on either. But I will be strong and supportive cos she will need it.. Ill probably be one of the few that will see her without any hair.
Im going to have an Schweppes duet and vanilla ice cream soda later for dessert.. Looking forward to it

morning ladies
Fingers crossed for a fine day, I need washing to dry and to finish the last bit of weeding.We both need to have blood tests today, another reason we need a fine day. It's tricky dodging raindrops while MrK is getting in and out of the car. We also have a small pile of goodies for the local op shop and will drop that off while in town.
I was reading on Stuff Wilson Car Parking is joining up with CCS to work on 'real time' software for parking wardens to ping people parking illegally in disabled car parks. They will fine up to $250. What happened to the big $700 fine? That $250 is nothing to some people.
The magnolia 'Butterflies' has a bud opening! Am so excited lol. It sounds ridiculous being excited about a tree flowering, but this is the very first 'proper' tree we have planted in this garden. The other trees were already established when we moved in or grew from seedlings. I thought it was a later flowering magnolia but not complaining at all. The flower is starting off as that gorgeous lime green plants have then changing to yellow.
The Furry One is insisting we do the garden rounds. Might take the camera and take some pics of the bud while we are out there.

Mixed weather here. I dont have to go out so it wont bother me.
Its not odd being excited about a tree Kiwimade.. Its a reward for all your hard work.
I wonder if that $250 will be on top of the $700 perhaps.. Which ever it is, good. Its really annoying not being able to park close when you need it. I probably use mine 50% of the time. It depends on the pain levels.
Games and painting today.
I looked up the Cold caps what a brilliant idea.. Will mention it to Dianne, but probably too late now.
I didnt have my ice cream soda last night lol Oh well it will happen when I do lol.

I look forward to that photo km. I planted a yellow magnolia in one of my Blenheim gardens but didn't stay long enough to see it flower, and always wondered how it looked. It was one of the early trees from Jury stock I think, early 2000s from unreliable memory. That was a hell of a garden, I just added to the established collection of lovely plants, including lilacs, which were pure joy.

I am still thrilled by my tulips opening, and they've been doing that in succession for the past six weeks. And no doubt will get the same thrills from my calla lilies when they wake up and do their thing. What treasures we have in our gardens.
